The Burley Swithland 9308-C Firecube wood burning stove has a large viewing window and has a nominal output of 8kW. The Burley Swithland is fully Defra approved for use in smoke control areas, is EcoDesign ready for the 2022 regulation and features an impressive efficiency rating of 85.6%
The catalytic converter in this model aids complete combustion, converting carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide, this process releases more energy, therefore a stove with a catalytic converter will generally have lower CO emissions and a higher efficiency than a stove without. Burley’s research and design team have ensured the catalytic converters in their stoves will last for over 10,000 hours of normal use. Unlike many catalytic converters these will not need to be replaced.
Burley stoves are the cleanest least polluting stoves in the world. This is achieved through a three step combustion process. Firstly, the intensity of Burley’s Fireball combustion chamber ensures the majority of particulates are burnt before leaving the combustion chamber. After this an remaining particulates have to pass through Burley’s unique soot trap. This is a red hot stainless steel mesh on which particulates spontaneously combust on contact releasing more energy in the process. Finally, particulates that survive the previous steps still have to make it through the catalytic converter where they are burnt through oxidation. The combination of these three measures results in particulate emissions as low as 0.1 grams per hour. For comparison burning one single open fire produces more particulate emissions than 300 Burley stoves.
